2011: Appeared in all 11 games during senior season at WSC...had 10 rushing attempts for 35 yards and one reception for six yards...returned one kickoff for 19 yards and returned 29 punts for 147 yards with an average of 5.1 which ranked seventh in the NSIC...played defensive back the final two games of the seaon and recorded 18 tackles with 11 solo and seven assisted and had one interception for 35 yards with a pass breakup.

2010: Appeared in six games during the 2010 season as a backup running back...had 29 rushes for 111 yards and caught three passes for six yards...had eight rushes for 59 yards against Upper Iowa on 10-20-10.

2009: Saw action in all 11 games with seven starts at running back...rushed for 292 yards on 61 carries with three TD's and a 4.8 avg. per rush...also had seven receptions for 52 yards...had nine rushes for season-high 135 yards, including an 82-yard run, vs. Nebraska-Kearney on 8-29-09 and two receptions for 31 yards to finish game with 166 all-purpose yards...had 34 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown vs. Southwest Minnesota State (9-26-09).

2008: Appeared in nine games as a backup running back  and kick returnter for the Wildcats, rushing for 147 yards on 35 carries with one touchdown...had season-high 56 yards rushing on 14 carries with one touchdown at Southwest Minnesota State on 9-27-08...had 15 kick returns for 294 yards and 17 punt returns for another 97 yards...had season-long 44 yard punt return at Upper Iowa on 10-4-08 and had season-best 31 yard kick return vs. Minnesota State on 9-20-08...also had three pass receptions for 15 yards.

2007: Sat out season as a reshirt.

High School: Was a four-year starter in football, collecting All-Conference honors three times and being selected All-State twice. Melvin helped the team to two undefeated seasons and as a senior he racked up 1900 all purpose yards; 1200 yards rushing, 300 yards receiving, and 400 yards in returns. Melvin was also a two-year starter in baseball and track and field.
