2010: Played in 34 games with 22 starts (19 as designated hitter and three in the outfield), hitting .293 with two homers and 13 RBI's...had a career-high three hits, going 3 for 5 with two runs scored in 13-3 win over Minnesota, Crookston on 5-1-10...homered in back-to-back games vs. Minnesota Duluth (3-29-01) and at Concordia-St. Paul (4-1-10)...was 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI's and one run scored in 9-8 win at #21 Minnesota State on 4-25-10...one of seven WSC players named to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.
2009: Appeared in 18 games with one start in the outfield during 2009 season...hit .222 going 4 for 18 with two runs scored and four RBI's...in lone start, went 2 for 3 with three RBI's in 12-1 win over Spalding (Ky.) on 3-7-09...was 2 for 3 with a run scored in doubleheader sweep at Southwest Baptist on 4-11-09...Selected to the NSIC Spring All-Academic Team for second straight season.
2008: Hit .350 for the Wildcats appearing in 30 games with 17 starts in the outfield...had three homers, 18 RBI's and 20 runs scored while going 21 for 60 at the plate...had back-to-back three RBI games in late April, going 1 for 3 with a homer in a 7-6 win over Mary on 4-20-08 and was 1 for 2 with a homer and three RBI's in a 9-3 win over Winona State on 4-23-08...also homered with three RBI's, going 1 for 3 with two runs scored in 9-3 win over Minnesota, Crookston on 4-6-08...went 3 for 3 vs. Concordia-St. Paul on 4-27-08 at the Metrodome in Minneapolis...Named to the 2008 NSIC Spring All-Academic Team.
2007: Sat out season as redshirt.
High School: Attended Millard South HS where he lettered in baseball, basketball, tennis and hockey. . . earned All-Metro Team honorable mention honors after hitting .335 with 20 stolen bases. . . helped his team win two district championships and two state tournament appearances. . . also set the legion season saves record with 12.
Personal: Son of Eric and Jill Nielsen. . . Hobbies include sports, friends and Nebraska football. . . Majoring in sport management...Josh's great-grandfather is Guy Best, a member of the WSC Athletic Hall of Fame. Best was a standout basketball player at Wayne State from 1923-26 and was inducted into the WSC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1979. Josh is only descendent out of 11 to return to Wayne State.
