Christy Warnock is in her fifth season (2026-27) as head softball coach at Wayne State College. She became the 14th head coach in the 54-year history of the program on July 18, 2022.
WSC softball continue its upward climb in the 2026 season under Warnock, recording records of 42-14 overall and had a third-place finish in the NSIC with a 21-9 league mark. It ws just the third time in program history that WSC softball had a 40-win season and the 42 wins were the second-most all-time. The Wildcats had a pair of no-hitters during the 2026 season - Kennadi Borngrebe April 7th in a 6-0 win over Augustana and Taylor Coleman April 24th in a 14-0 victory over UMary. WSC also had an 11-game improvement in wins from the previous season.
Under Warnock in 2025, Wayne State posted the best turnaround in NCAA Division II softball with a 23-game improvement from the previous season. The 'Cats were 31-24 overall and finished eighth in the NSIC with a 14-13 league mark. WSC recorded a 30-win season for the first time since 2016 and posted their first win at the NSIC Softball Tournament with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Southwest Minnesota State. The team also set several new school records including 87 doubles to beat the old mark of 80 set twice.
Wayne State finished the 2024 season with records of 8-40 overall and 4-20 in NSIC games and was 13-39 overall and 14th in the NSIC with an 8-21 league record in Warnock's first season in 2023.
Prior to arriving at Wayne State, Warnock served four seasons as an assistant coach at the University of South Dakota. She helped the Coyotes to a 28-25 record and a fourth-place finish in the Summit League with an 11-10 mark in her final season at USD in 2022. Her first season as an assistant coach at USD (2019) saw the Coyotes post a 33-28 record and 12-6 mark in the Summit League, the most wins for the South Dakota program in the Division I era.
A graduate of Millard North High School, Warnock was a three-year starter for the South Dakota softball team from 2015-18, hitting a career-best .302 with a .419 on-base percentage as a junior in 2017. She closed her playing career with nine home runs and 68 runs scored and was named to the Summit League All-Tournament Team as a senior in 2018 while also selected to the Summit League Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence all three years she was eligible.
Warnock earned her bachelor's degree from South Dakota in business administration and human resource management with a minor in coaching and obtained a master's degree in sport management from USD in the fall of 2019.
