    Women's Basketball Coaching Assistant
            Amber Schwarte is in her fourth season (2025-26) in her second stint on the Wildcat sidelines as a Coaching Assistant for Wayne State women's basketball.
            Schwarte served as an assistant coach with the Wildcats from 2018-19, then became Director of the Wayne Community Activity Center and now works at State Nebraska Bank and Trust in Wayne.
            Schwarte came to Wayne after serving one season (2017-18) as an assistant coach for Brent Pollari at St. Mary's University in Minnesota.  She also served one year (2016-17) as a graduate assistant coach at Dordt College, an NAIA school located in Sioux Center, Iowa.
            A graduate of Northern Iowa in 2016, the former Amber Sorenson was a standout player for five seasons (2011-16) with the Panthers women's basketball team.  She broke the single season school record for 3-pointers as a senior with 97, averaging 12.4 points and 4.2 rebounds per game to go with 36 blocked shots to receive All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.  Schwarte ended her playing career second all-time in 3-pointers and was an MVC Scholar Athlete.
            Schwarte Sorenson is a native of Caledonia, Minnesota and earned a bachelor's degree from Northern Iowa in health promotion with an emphasis on fitness and a minor in coaching.  She also has a master's degree in organizational leadership/sport management.
            Amber and her husband John reside in Wayne with their three children - Isaiah (5), Avrie (3) and Elijah (1).
