Former Wildcat standout guard Jay Saunders is in his first season (2025-26) as a graduate assistant men's basketball coach at Wayne State College.
A graduate of Omaha South High School, Saunders was a five-year starting point guard for the Wildcats from 2020-25 appearing in 130 games and starting all but nine contests. In his senior season Saunders averaged a career-high 10.0 points per game and had a team-high 83 assists while ranking second in the NSIC in steals per game at 1.8. He closed his Wildcat career ranking second all-time in steals with 176 and was sixth in career assists at 304.
Saunders earned a bachelor's degree in sport management and business and is pursuing a master's degree at Wayne State College.
