            Katie Morris is in her seventh year (2026) as Assistant Beach Volleyball Coach with the Wildcats.  She is also in her ninth season as assistant coach for the indoor volleyball team in the fall.
            The Wildcats finished the 2025 season with a 14-6 record (fourth straight year with double-digit wins), matching the 2022 team for the most wins in a beach volleyball season.  WSC also won a pool play match for the first time ever at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships to advance to the Silver Bracket and finish 11th in the national tournament.  
            Morris received the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Beach Coaching Award during the 2021 beach season, recognizing coaches who are hard-working and passionate about teaching while demonstrating dedication to the fast-growing sport of beach volleyball.  She helped coach the Wildcats to a 14-6 record and Bronze Division title at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships during the 2022 season. 
            A former Wildcat volleyball standout, Katie Hughes Morris is one of just seven players to record 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs during her playing career from 2012-15.  She currently ranks third in career digs (1,924) and is 15th in career kills with 1,177. 
            Morris was a First Team All-NSIC selection as a senior in 2015, recording 20 double-doubles while averaging 3.57 kills and 4.74 digs per set.  She helped the Wildcats to a 28-8 record and the schools' first-ever NCAA Central Region title that ended in the NCAA Division II national semi-finals.  Morris was Second Team All-NSIC during her junior season in 2014 and was a four year starter for the Wildcats.
            A graduate of Seward High School, Hughes Morris obtained a bachelor degree from Wayne State in 2017 with a double major in education and special education.  She was inducted into the WSC Athletic Hall of Fame on October 29, 2022.
            Katie and her husband, former Wildcat baseball player Spencer Morris, reside in Wayne.
