Quinn McCafferty

            Quinn McCafferty is in his first year (2025-26) as a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Events and Operations.  His duties will include assisting and leading game-day and event setup for varsity and club sports.  McCafferty will also monitor facilities and tasked with managing intramural and club sports that include scheduling events and managing the utilization of Wayne State's recreation areas.
            McCafferty is a Wayne State graduate who played baseball for the Wildcats from 2023-25.  He was a three-year starter at shortstop for the Wildcats and was a steady performer posting a .341 batting average in 2023 with one homer and 33 RBI.  In 2024 McCafferty was voted Most Valuable Player after recording 47 RBI and a .315 average and closed his Wildcat career in 2025 batting .278 with two home runs and 35 RBI.  He excelled in the classroom, earning NSIC All-Academic honors twice, to go with the NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic With Distinction Award and was a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.
            Away from the baseball field, McCafferty was also involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years. 
            McCafferty, a native of Big Horn, Wyoming, came to Wayne State from Western Nebraska Community College.  He maintains his passion for baseball by coaching the Wayne 14-under Pony baseball team in the summer of 2025 leading the team to a 19-4 record and second place finish in the Tri-County League.
            McCafferty is pursuing a master's degree in mental health counseling at Wayne State.
