Travis Kamm is in his 14th year overall (2025-26) as an assistant coach (fourth full-time, seven-coaching assistant and three years as a graduate assistant) with the Wildcat track and field program. He works with sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers.
         For the second time in three years, Kamm was named NSIC Men's Outdoor Track Assistant Coach of the Year in 2025. Kamm helped coach the Wildcats to a fourth-place team finish and worked with student-athletes who scored 46 of the team's 81 points that included two NSIC champions - Emmanuel Badejo in the 400-meter dash and the 4 x 100-meter relay team. Badejo later earned All-American honors in the 400-meter dash placing sixth with a new school record time of 46.05 seconds.  Â
           Kamm was also named NSIC Men's Outdoor Track Assistant Coach of the Year in 2023 after coaching WSC athletes that scored 51 of the teams' 65 points at the NSIC Outdoor Championships in St. Paul, Minnesota. He coached high jump champion Dylan Kneifl and NSIC decathlon champion Debonaire Williams along with national qualifiers Kneifl and Logan Moeller (long jump).
           Under Kamm's coaching a Wayne State athlete won either the heptathlon (indoor) or decathlon (outdoor) six of seven years from 2016-2023.
            Kamm came to Wayne State after competing in track and field at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He was a multiple placer in NSIC meets in the high jump and triple jump while also participating in the heptathlon, long jump, 400 meters and 1600 meter relay team during his time with the Wolves. Kamm was named the team's Most Improved Male Athlete during his junior season (2009-10).Â
            Following his four years as a member of the Wolves track and field team, Kamm spent the 2011-12 season working as an intern with the school's strength and conditioning program. His duties included helping athletes with lifting technique while supervising workouts and athletic testing.
            Kamm earned his bachelor degree from Northern State University in May, 2012 in human performance and fitness. He obtained a master's degree from Wayne State in May, 2015 majoring in physical education and exercise science.
