Wayne State College held Northern State to a .039 hitting percentage, forcing the Wolves into 36 hitting errors, as the Wildcats recorded a 3-0 NSIC road volleyball win Wednesday evening in Aberdeen, South Dakota. After a tight first game that WSC won 36-34, the Wildcats rolled in the following two games 30-18 and 30-11 to earn the three-game sweep.
Senior All-American Emily Schroeder had a big night for the Wildcats, accounting for 16 kills, 18 digs, seven blocks and three service aces in the win. Junior Brittany Van Beek pounded out 15 kills with just two hitting errors while hitting .361 in the match. Senior libero Laura Dolezal notched a match-high 25 digs to lead the 'Cats on defense while freshman setter Jenna Jansen distributed 41 set assists and notched 12 digs with six blocks.
Wayne State hit .214 for the match, including .405 in the second game with just one hitting error and 18 kills. The Wildcats also had a big night at the net, recording 17 team blocks to just three for Northern State.
The Wildcats, now 14-9 overall and 7-4 in the NSIC, will play a non-conference match Saturday evening at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion starting at 8:00 p.m.
