Northern State posts 6-0 NSIC soccer win over Wayne State

Northern State used five first half goals and a hat trick by Maggie Fedor to lead the Wolves in a 6-0 win over Wayne State in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Saturday in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  NSU improves to 9-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in league play while Wayne State remains winless at 0-9-2 overall and 0-3 in NSIC play.

The host Wolves wasted little time in scoring as Larissa Strychum scored just 41 seconds into the contest to put Northern State in front 1-0.  Summer Swan posted the second goal for Northern State at the 8:10 mark to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead.  Fedor scored back-to-back goals in a span of 2:09 in the 20th and 22nd minutes to extend the lead to 4-0.  KaSara Sutton recorded an unassisted goal at the 40:19 mark to close out the first half scoring with Northern State leading 5-0 at the intermission. Fedor completed the hat trick for the lone goal in the second half, scoring at the 74:53 mark, to make the final score 6-0.

Northern State held an 18-5 advantage in shots over Wayne State, including 11-2 in shots on goal.  WSC sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Fuchs recorded two saves while allowing five goals in the first half for the Wildcats.  Freshman Emily Walker played the second half and gave up just one goal while recording three saves.

Wayne State will be in action again Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. contest at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
