29 turnovers hurt Wayne State in a 68-48 loss at Nebraska-Kearney Monday evening in non-conference women's basketball played in Kearney.  WSC falls to 2-1 on the young season while UNK won their season opener to improve to 1-0.

Wayne State and Nebraska-Kearney were tied at 12-12 midway through the first half, but the host Lopers finished the half on a 23-11 run to grab a 35-23 lead and never looked back in topping the Wildcats.

Kylee McGill accounted for 11 points to lead Wayne State in scoring.  Laquisha Cook was the only other player in double figures for the 'Cats with 10 points.  WSC shot 14 of 38 from the field (36.8%), 1 of 6 from the three point line and 19 of 28 at the free throw stripe. 

The top scorer for Nebraska-Kearney was Jade Meads with 16 points followed by Amy Mathis with 14.  The Lopers hit 25 of 60 shots from the field (41.7%), 5 of 13 shots from the three point line and 13 of 17 attempts at the charity stripe.

UNK outrebounded Wayne State 40-31 thanks to eight caroms from Amy Mathis.  Wayne State's top rebounder was freshman Jodie Boss with six.  WSC had 29 turnovers to 23 for UNK.

Wayne State returns to action on Friday, November 23 when the Wildcats face the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs at the UCCS Thanksgiving Classic in Colorado Springs, Colorado with tip off set for 7:00 p.m.
