Minnesota State posted a 4-0 shutout win over Wayne State in the women's soccer opener for both teams played Saturday afternoon in Mankato, Minnesota. The host Mavericks scored three goals in the first half, including one with two seconds remaining in the half, and added an insurance goal in the second half to record the 4-0 win.
Minnesota State held a 20-3 advantage in shots over the Wildcats and had four corner kicks to Wayne State's none. Sophomore Rachel Fuchs played just under 74:00 in goal and allowed four goals while recording five saves. Freshman Emily Walker played the final 16:06 of the game and was credited with one save.
The Wildcats will play at the University of North Dakota on Sunday afternoon starting at 1:00 p.m.
