#4 Concordia-St. Paul 3 Wayne State 1
NCAA Division II 4th-ranked Concordia-St. Paul earned a hard-fought 3-1 win over Wayne State in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Friday night in St. Paul, Minnesota. Scores of the match were 30-27, 32-30, 25-30 and 30-22.
The host Golden Bears had five players with 10 or more kills in the match as CSP held a .207 to .181 hitting advantage over Wayne State. Senior All-American middle hitter Emily Schroeder had a big night for the Wildcats, recording 20 kills, 11 digs and six blocks. Junior Meredy Dubbs added 13 kills and 12 digs while sophomore Jordan Schaffer notched a season-high 10 kills. Freshman setter Erin Dostal was credited with 45 set assists and senior libero Laura Dolezal paced the 'Cats on defense with 26 digs.
For Concordia-St. Paul, now 14-1 overall and 5-0 in the NSIC, Maria Steinhagen and Emily Palkert each accounted for 18 kills with Whitney Meierotto adding 14 kills and 21 digs. Wayne State is now 9-6 overall and 2-2 in league play and will visit MSU Moorhead Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
