MSU Moorhead won a pair of close games and went on defeat Wayne State 3-1 in Northern Sun Conference volleyball Saturday in Moorhead, Minnesota. Scores of the match were 31-29, 25-30, 31-29 and 30-22. MSU Moorhead improves to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the NSIC while Wayne State falls to 9-7 overall and 2-3 in league play.
The host Dragons held a .123 to .103 hitting advantage over the Wildcats. Both teams had strong defense as MSUM had 38 hitting errors to Wayne State's 35.
Senior Emily Schroeder paced Wayne State in hitting with 16 kills followed by Jordan Schaffer with 12. Senior libero Laura Dolezal notched 32 digs for the Wildcats on defense followed by Meredy Dubbs with 14. Freshman setter Jenna Jansen was credited with 31 set assists while freshman teammate Erin Dostal had 15.
Wayne State will be in action again Sunday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. NSIC match at the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota.
