#23 Wildcats rally from two game deficit to win at Minnesota State

The 23rd-ranked Wayne State College volleyball team rallied from a two game deficit Friday evening to win 3-2 at Minnesota State in Mankato, Minnesota in Northern Sun Conference action.  Scores of the contest were 18-25, 26-28, 25-16, 25-15 and 15-11.   Wayne State improved to 20-4 overall and 9-3 in the NSIC with the win while Minnesota State fell to 13-11 overall and 8-5 in league play with the loss.

Sophomore middle hitter Jennifer Hefner had an outstanding night for the Wildcats, recording a career-high 26 kills while hitting .619 for the game without a hitting error in 42 total attacks.  Mindy Moody and Lea Hartigan each added 12 kills for the Wildcats, who hit .290 for the contest. 

Freshman Tali Fredrickson paced the 'Cats on defense with 23 digs followed by Meredy Dubbs with 13 digs and Tessa Wietfeld and Danielle Wessel with 12 apiece.  Sophomore setter Diedra Artz was credited with 47 set assists in the win for Wayne State.

For Minnesota State, Ashley Nachreiner notched 17 kills and 13 digs for the Mavericks who hit .233 in the loss.  Brittany Stamer handed out 53 set assists for Minnesota State.

Wayne State will be in action again on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. as the Wildcats visit 4th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall, Minnesota.
