Wayne State 3 #13 Minnesota Duluth 0

The Wayne State College volleyball team handed #13 Minnesota Duluth their first NSIC loss with a 3-0 sweep on Friday evening in Wayne.  Scores of the match were 25-19, 25-22 and 25-23.  With the win, WSC is 13-3 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC.  Minnesota Duluth drops to 14-4 overall and 5-1 in the NSIC with the loss.

Wayne State had a .281 team hitting percentage compared to just .194 for the Bulldogs.  Brittany Van Beek led the way for the Wildcats with 14 kills on the night.  Jennifer Hefner and Mindy Moody each added eight kills, and Danielle Wessel and Lea Hartigan added seven kills apiece for the 'Cats.  Meredy Dubbs led Wayne State defensively with 18 digs.  Van Beek and Tessa Wietfeld each had 10 digs.  Sophomore setter Jenna Jansen handed out 38 assists in the game for WSC.  Sarah Wyffels had 12 kills and Katie Gangelhoff had 36 assists for Minnesota Duluth.

Wayne State will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Bemidji State in NSIC action.  The game is set for 4:00 at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
