The Wayne State College volleyball team swept Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon in Wayne. Scores of the match were 25-16, 25-14 and 25-12. Wayne State is now 14-3 overall and 4-3 in the NSIC with the win. Bemidji State is 6-13 overall and 2-5 in the NSIC with the loss.
WSC had a .312 team hitting percentage for the game while holding Bemidji State to a .021 team hitting percentage. Brittany Van Beek led a balanced Wayne State hitting attack with 11 kills on the day. Mindy Moody had nine kills and Lea Hartigan added seven kills for the Wildcats. Senior Meredy Dubbs led the WSC defense with 13 digs. Danielle Wessel had eight digs and Tessa Wietfeld added seven digs. Sophomore setter Jenna Jansen handed out 31 assists for the 'Cats. Jennifer Janckila had five kills and Courtney Bitter had 17 assists to lead Bemidji State in defeat.
Wayne State will hit the road next weekend with NSIC contests at Minnesota, Crookston on Friday and MSU Moorhead on Saturday.
