Minnesota Duluth scored five goals in the second half to top Wayne State 5-1 in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Sunday afternoon in Wayne. The Bulldogs move to 7-10-2 overall and 7-4-2 in the NSIC while Wayne State ends the season with a 1-18-1 overall mark and a 1-12 record in league play.
The Wildcats scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute as Tiffani Kellerman scored her second goal of the season off a corner kick from Stephanie Bright and a pass from Rachel Fuchs to give WSC a 1-0 lead. The score stayed the same until the 65:52 mark when Minnesota Duluth's Lauren Graydon scored to knot the score at 1-1. UMD's Clare Dahmen scored in the 72nd minute to put the Bulldogs up 2-1. UMD added two goals in a span of 63 seconds to take a 4-1 lead as Maria Leider and Leah Headrick scored for the Bulldogs. Becky Anderson then scored at the 85:26 mark to close out the scoring in the 5-1 win.
Minnesota Duluth held a 21-9 advantage in shots over Wayne State, including a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. WSC goalkeeper Emily Walker had nine saves while UMD goalkeeper Hannah Bengtson accounting for two saves for the Bulldogs.
