#1 Concordia, St. Paul 3 Wayne State 0
Concordia, St. Paul, ranked #1 in NCAA Division II, swept Wayne State College Tuesday evening 25-12, 25-16 and 25-15 in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played in St. Paul, Minnesota. The host Golden Bears are now 18-1 overall and 7-0 in the NSIC following the win while dropping Wayne State to 12-3 overall and 2-3 in league play.
The Wildcats suffered through a rough hitting night, recording 22 errors and hitting just .053 for the match while Concordia, St. Paul had just 10 hitting errors and hit .326 for the match. Senior Danielle Wessel topped Wayne State with nine kills and seven digs while freshman outside hitter Tali Fredrickson accounted for eight kills and eight digs. Sophomore setter Jenna Jansen was credited with 18 set assists in the match for WSC.
For Concordia, St. Paul, Whitney Meierotto had 13 kills with Emily Palkert accounting for 10. All-American setter Maggie McNamara handed out 36 set assists while Mary Slinger finished with 17 digs.
Wayne State returns home this weekend, hosting 13th-ranked Minnesota Duluth Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Bemidji State on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
