Dordt Indoor Invite Results

                The Wayne State College indoor track and field teams competed at two meets this weekend in their first action of the 2011 indoor season as part of the team participated at the UNL Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Nebraska Friday and Saturday while the rest of the team traveled to Sioux Center, Iowa for the Dordt College Invitational.  

                For the WSC women at the UNL Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, senior Christina King reached an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 400 meter dash with a  time of 57.08 seconds to place third in the event.  She also placed seventh in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.73 seconds.  Pierce freshman Skyler Lippman collected an eighth place finish in the 800 meter run (2:32.40).

                At the Dordt meet, Norfolk Catholic graduate Nicole Brungardt made a stellar debut for the Wildcats by winning the 55 meter dash (7.42) and taking second in the 200 meter dash (26.81).  It was her first competitive action in track and field in more than three years for the Wildcat volleyball defensive specialist.  Senior Paige Pollard placed second in the 800 meter run (2:21.06) and was sixth in the 55 meter hurdles (8.93); freshman Erin Klein was second in the 400 meter dash (1:01.91) and Brianne Hofstetter earned a second place finish in the triple jump (34' 11 ¾”) to go with a fourth place finish in the long jump (16' 5”). 
                Wayne State will be in action again next weekend hosting the Wildcat Open on Saturday, January 22^nd starting with field events at 10:00 a.m. in the WSC Recreation Center.
