Sophomore
McKinley Grover earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish in the discus to lead the Wayne State women's track and field team on the final day of the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Duluth, Minnesota. As a team, Wayne State finished sixth out of 15 teams scoring 48.5 points.
Minnesota State edged UMary 167-161 for the women's team title with Winona State third at 107. Northern State took fourth with 66 points followed by Augustana (51) and Wayne State sixth with 48.5 points. MSU Moorhead (43), Sioux Falls (40), Jamestown (35) and Minnesota Duluth (34.5) closed out the top 10 teams.
Grover had the top Wildcat finish Saturday taking third in the discus at 154' 4" to earn All-NSIC honors with
Torrance Tso right behind in fourth at 144' 0".
Two Wildcats also collected medals in the 100-meter hurdles as sophomore
Reagan Murphy placed fifth in 14.23 seconds while freshman
Breylee Botts was eighth in 14.95 seconds.
Friday, Wayne State saw one NSIC champion and two others earn All-NSIC honors.
Sophomore
Jalecia Williams won the shot put title on her last throw in finals at 46' 7 1/4", an NCAA provisional mark. Senior
Olivia Schwarzrock produced All-NSIC honors taking second at 45' 7 1/4" (NCAA provisional mark) and Grover was eighth at 42' 8 3/4".
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Taylor Arp was an All-NSIC performer taking second at 171' 6" with Williams fifth (165' 5") and Schwarzrock eighth (158' 6").
Jerika Bakenhus tied for eighth in the high jump clearing 5' 2 1/2".
