Wayne State College sophomore
McKinley Grover earned All-American honors placing fifth in the women's discus Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Emporia, Kansas.
Grover, a graduate of Gordon-Rushville HS, came up with a pair of big throws to move from not being in the finals, to qualifying for the finals and moving up two spots on her final throw.
After two throws in prelims, Grover was 10
th place overall with a mark of 154' 4". On her final throw in prelims, she produced a mark of 161' 7" to advance to the finals in seventh place.
Remaining in seventh place entering her final throw, Grover tossed 162' 3" and moved up two spots to finish fifth place overall.
It's the second straight year and seventh time overall a Wildcat women's thrower has earned All-American honors in the discus. Last season
