            Sophomore guard Ty Bauschek recorded career-highs of 17 points and five three-pointers to spark a balanced team effort as Wayne State College posted a 77-73 Northern Sun Conference men's basketball win Monday evening at Concordia-St. Paul.  The Wildcats move to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in the NSIC while dropping the host Golden Bears to 4-6 and 1-5 in league play.

            WSC held the lead for a good share of the first half that saw three ties and five lead changes.  Concordia-St. Paul's biggest lead was three, 3-0, while the Wildcats held a seven point lead at 27-20 with 5:43 remaining following a three pointer from sophomore Ty Bauschek.  After CU rallied to take a 31-29 lead, Bauschek's fourth trey of the first half coming with six seconds remaining gave WSC a 34-33 lead at intermission.

            The second half remained close as the two teams exchanged three ties and eight lead changes.  The game's final tie came at 46-46 with 13:24 to play.  WSC never relinquished the lead as the Wildcats got several key three pointers along with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to stave off the Golden Bears.

            WSC built a 61-55 lead with 7:39 to play following an Amry Shelby three pointer.  CU got as close as one point at 62-61 following a Kenny Olafeso layup with 4:43 to play.  A dunk by Clayfell Harris and a three pointer from Vontrell Seroyer pushed the Wildcat advantage back to six at 67-61 with 1:44 remaining.  The Wildcats sealed the game by making 10 of 10 free throws the rest of the way, eight coming from Shelby and two more by Seroyer, as WSC won their second NSIC road game of the season and third league game in their last four contests.             

            Junior guard Amry Shelby poured in 23 points to lead four double digit scorers for the Wildcats, making 6 of 9 shots from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 from the foul stripe.  Bauschek followed with his career-high 17 points and five three pointers while Derrell Williams chipped in 15 points.  Senior guard Vontrell Seroyer contributed 14 points and handed out a career-high nine assists in the Wildcat win.

            WSC was 24 of 50 from the field for 48 percent and made a season-high 10 three pointers on just 18 attempts for 55.6 percent.  The Wildcats were also a respectable 19 of 22 at the charity stripe.

            Peter Olafeso led Concordia-St. Paul with 23 points followed by Deonte Roberts with 19 points and Kenny Olafeso 11.  Concordia-St. Paul shot 52.8 percent from the field making 28 of 53 shots.  CU was 3 of 8 behind the three point line and 14 of 19 at the free throw line. 

            WSC held a 33-23 advantage in rebounding over Concordia-St. Paul thanks to seven rebounds each by Nick Wuebker and Derrell Williams.  CU's top rebounders were Isaiah Thomas and Deonte Roberts with five apiece. 

            The Wildcats will conclude their Northern Sun Conference road trip Tuesday evening with an 8:00 p.m. game at St. Cloud State.
