#20 Wildcats cruise past Mary

            #20 Wayne State forced 20 Mary attack errors and the Wildcats cruised to a 25-17, 25-16 and 25-9 win over the Marauders in Northern Sun Conference volleyball played Friday evening in Bismarck, North Dakota.  The Wildcats improve to 20-9 on the season and 11-8 in conference play while Mary falls to 4-22 and 1-18 in league play.
            The Wildcats struggled in the first set hitting just .094 with only 10 kills and seven attack errors.  But the WSC defense made up for it by forcing Mary into nine attack errors and a -.031 hitting percentage in a 25-17 first set win.
            Wayne State won the second set 25-16 thanks to 13 kills and a .310 attack percentage while the third set saw the Wildcats catch fire hitting .762 with 16 kills and no attack errors to complete the sweep with a 25-9 third set win.
            Wayne State hit .341 in the match while holding Mary to .036.  The 'Cats had 39 kills to 23 for Mary and had a 4-3 edge in blocks over the Marauders.
            Cori Hobbs led a balanced hitting attack for the Wildcats with nine kills along with four service aces.  Lexi Malm and Elizabeth Gebhardt each added seven kills in the win.
            Sophomore libero Courtney VanGroningen had 13 digs while setter Leisa McClintock was credited with 31 set assists.
            The Wildcats will close out the regular season Saturday evening with a 6 p.m. NSIC contest at Minot State.
