WSC, Minnesota Crookston play to 1-1 tie in NSIC women's soccer

                Wayne State and Minnesota Crookston battled to a 1-1 double overtime tie in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Saturday afternoon at the WSC Soccer Complex.  The host Wildcats are now 1-5-1 overall and 1-2-1 in league play while Minnesota Crookston is 2-4-1 on the season and 0-3-1 in the NSIC following the tie.
                Minnesota Crookston opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Taylor Peterson scored of a deflection putting the Golden Eagles up 1-0.  Nearly four minutes later Wayne State tied the score when Kelly Voigt scored off a header deflection by Macy Hagen to even the score at the 23:11 mark. But that would be all the scoring in the contest as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie.
                Wayne State held a 12-9 advantage in shots over the Golden Eagles and had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks.  The Wildcats were called for 13 fouls compared to six on Minnesota Crookston.
                Jordan Hobza led WSC in shots with five followed by Mallory Hoyt with three.  Voigt recorded her second goal of the season for WSC in the contest while freshman goalkeeper Kylie Comba was credited with four saves.
                Wayne State will be at home again Sunday afternoon hosting Bemidji State in a 1 p.m. Northern Sun Conference match.
