#1 Minnesota State Defeats Wayne State 7-0

           #1 Minnesota State capitalized on two first half goals and five in the second half to defeat Wayne State 7-0 Saturday afternoon in NSIC soccer action in Mankato, Minnesota.  The Mavericks improve to 13-0 on the season with a 10-0 NSIC record, while the Wildcats fall to 1-11-1 overall with a 0-10 league mark. 
            Minnesota State scored their first goal of the match in the 10th minute courtesy of an unassisted goal by Kiana Nickel.  Jessica Bowe added another first half goal in the 25th minute off of an assist from Rebecca Pederson.  In the second half Dana Savino scored in the 50th minute off of a long pass from Emily Moris.  The Mavericks then scored two goals in a span of 33 seconds by Emily Moris and Kiana Nickel to take the 5-0 lead.  Caitlin Foley and Lexi Pszanka added two more late goals for Minnesota State to give the final of 7-0.
            Minnesota State outshot Wayne State on the match 30-2, and also held the advantage in the number of corner kicks earned in the match 11-0.  The Wildcats were whistled for nine penalties to just three by the Mavericks.
            Offensively for Wayne State Josie Brown and Suenly Galvez had the two shots for the 'Cats in the contest. 
            Sophomore goalkeeper Kylie Comba had five saves in the loss, and now has a 0-1-0 record on the season.  Junior goalkeeper Kara Noesen also saw playing time recording one save in her 30 minutes of play.
            The Wildcats will be in action again Sunday afternoon playing a 1 p.m. contest at Concordia-St. Paul.
