Minnesota Crookston 3 Wayne State 1 Minnesota Crookston posted a 3-1 win over Wayne State College Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played at the UMC Soccer Field in Crookston, Minnesota. The host Golden Eagles move to 3-3-3 and 2-2-2 in the NSIC with Wayne State falling to 1-7-1 and 0-5 in league play.
The Golden Eagles scored twice in the first half, the first from Courtney Armborst in the 17
th minute and the second by Delaney McIntyre at the 24:31 mark, to take a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Armborst scored again for UMC at the 72:25 mark to give Minnesota Crookston a 3-0 lead and just over one minute later Wayne State's
McKenzie Hallstrom found the back of the net on a penalty kick at the 73:44 mark to close out the scoring as the Golden Eagles registered a 3-1 victory.
Minnesota Crookston held a 17-11 shot advantage over Wayne State and an 11-7 edge in shots on goal. UMC had one more corner kick than WSC, 3-2, while the Golden Eagles were called for 11 fouls to Wayne State's seven.
Hallstrom scored her first goal of the season to lead Wayne State while
Josie Brown was credited with a team-high three shots followed by
Mallory Hoyt and
Kyhlie Hansen with two apiece.
Sophomore
Kylie Comba played the first 45:00 in goal and was credited with six saves while giving up two goals. Freshman
Margaret Harma played the second half and allowed one goal while recording two saves.
Wayne State will be in action again Sunday afternoon playing at Bemidji State in a 1 p.m. NSIC contest.
