Box Score #8 Wayne State 3 Minnesota Crookston 0 Wayne State College hit .398 for the match as the #8 Wildcats cruised to a 25-17, 25-20 and 25-14 Northern Sun Conference volleyball win Friday evening over Minnesota Crookston at Rice Auditorium in Wayne. The Wildcats improve to 23-5 on the season and 15-4 in league play while the visiting Golden Eagles fall to 11-16 and 5-14 in the NSIC.
The Wildcats never trailed in the first set, building a 16-10 lead that forced a UMC timeout, as WSC went on to the 25-17 set win thanks to 17 kills.
UMC stayed close with the Wildcats in the second set, but WSC pulled away late for a 25-20 win after the Golden Eagles were within one point at 17-16. The 'Cats had 19 kills and just two attack errors in the second set win.
Wayne State overcame an early 4-1 deficit in the third set and built a 12-6 lead which led to the Wildcats pulling away for a 25-14 win to complete the sweep.
The Wildcats hit a sizzling .398 in the match, the second-highest attack percentage of the season, while UMC hit .235. WSC had 50 kills in the match to 37 for the Golden Eagles. The 'Cats held a 47-36 advantage in digs over UMC while the Golden Eagles had five blocks to two by the Wildcats.

Katie Hughes had her 17
th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 14 digs followed by
Alyssa Frauendorfer with 14 kills and no attack errors on 17 attempts for a scorching .824 attack percentage.
Sophomore
Michaela Mestl contributed 12 digs to the Wildcat win while junior setter
Leisa McClintock had 38 set assists and seven kills on eight attempts and no errors for a .875 attack percentage.
The Wildcats will be at home again Saturday afternoon hosting Bemidji State in a 5 p.m. contest at Rice Auditorium.
