The Wayne State College volleyball team is ranked sixth in the final AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon. It's the highest-ever national ranking to end the season for the Wildcats, who were ninth in the 2010 season and 10
th in 2011. Wayne State is nationally ranked at the end of the season for a seventh consecutive year and the Wildcats extend their streak of consecutive national rankings to 74 dating back to September 28, 2009.
Wayne State finished the 2014 season with a 27-7 record, placing third in the NSIC with a 16-4 league mark. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Division II national tournament for the ninth time in the last 10 seasons, defeating Central Missouri in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional before falling to Minnesota Duluth in the semi-finals. WSC returns all six starters for next season.
