Wayne State College head volleyball coach Scott Kneifl announced today that Nebraska-Kearney middle hitter Mia Berg has transferred to the Wildcat program and will join the team this semester and play beach volleyball this spring and have one year of eligibility for the indoor season in the fall of 2026.
Berg, a 6-1 middle hitter from Eureka, Missouri (Eureka HS), is a three-time All-MIAA selection for the Lopers and was an AVCA All-American Second Team selection in the 2024 season. This season, she averaged 1.80 kills and 0.75 blocks per set with a .310 hitting percentage to earn All-MIAA honorable mention, helping UNK to a 30-4 record, a share of the MIAA regular season title and the semi-finals of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
As a sophomore in 2024, Berg was voted MIAA Hitter of the Year, All-MIAA First Team, AVCA and D2CCA All-Central Region and AVCA All-American Second Team after averaging 3.12 kills and 1.17 blocks per set with a .318 hitting percentage leading UNK to a 30-3 record. She accounted for 1.98 kills and 1.00 blocks per set hitting .277 as a freshman to earn All-MIAA Second Team accolades in 2023.
In her three years at UNK, Berg had 662 kills and 280 blocks while posting a .303 hitting percentage. She also excels in the classroom earning MIAA Scholar Athlete and MIAA Excellence Awards while being named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.
Wayne State finished the 2025 season with a record of 27-5 overall and tied for first in the NSIC with a 19-1 league mark giving the Wildcats their third NSIC regular season title in the last four years. The Wildcats were tied for 10th in the final AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon.
