Box Score Augustana 4 Wayne State 0 Augustana College scored two goals in each half to record a 4-0 women's soccer victory over Wayne State College Thursday evening in the Northern Sun Conference opener for both teams played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at Morstad Field. WSC is now 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play while Augustana is 2-1 and 1-0 in the NSIC.
The game was scoreless until the 28:52 mark when the Vikings took a 1-0 lead. Just over three minutes later, Augustana scored again to take a 2-0 lead at intermission. Augustana scored goals in the 56
th and 70
th minutes to close out the scoring for the 4-0 win.
Augustana held a 15-9 advantage in shots over Wayne State including 6-3 in shots on goal. WSC had seven corner kicks to just two for Augustana while the Wildcats were whistled for nine fouls with just one on the host Vikings.
Mallory Hoyt and
Josie Brown each had two shots to lead Wayne State offensively while Hoyt,
McKenzie Hallstrom and
Kelsea Lambert were each credited with shots on goal for the Wildcats.
Freshman goalkeeper
Margaret Harma had two saves in the loss for WSC and is now 1-1-1 on the season.
Wayne State will close out non-conference play Monday afternoon as the Wildcats host Colorado Christian in a 12 p.m. contest in the home opener at the WSC Soccer Complex.
