The Wayne State College women's basketball team was tested in both games Tuesday on the final day of their Canadian Exhibition Tour as the Wildcats salvaged a split to finish the two-day trip with a 3-1 record. WSC won the opening contest at the University of Manitoba 96-85 but fell in the final game of the day Tuesday evening at the University of Winnipeg 68-65.
In the opener, the Wildcats used balanced scoring with five players in double figures and 54 percent shooting (33 of 61) as Wayne State outscored the Bisons from Manitoba 96-85.

Alisa Petersen each poured in 14 points to lead Wayne State. Sophomore

Anna Martensen chipped in 13 points apiece with junior guard
Haley Moore adding 10.
Kirsten Larson, Martensen and Schulte each grabbed seven boards for the Wildcats, who outrebounded the Bison 40-30. WSC did have 24 turnovers in the game to 18 on Manitoba.
Wayne State could not overcome a 10-point second quarter deficit as the Wildcats dropped their final game on the exhibition trip Tuesday evening at the University of Winnipeg 68-65.
The Wildcats trailed by nine at halftime, but outscored the Wesmen 19-6 in the third quarter to regain the lead at 50-46. However, the host team came back late in the fourth quarter and posted a 68-65 win over WSC.
Sophomore guard Kacie O'Connor scored a game-high 21 points for the Wildcats followed by Petersen with 14.
Wayne State opens the 2015-16 regular season on Friday, November 13
th hosting Lindenwood (Mo.) at 6 p.m. in the Wayne Herald Crossover Classic at Rice Auditorium in Wayne.
