Wayne State College dropped a Northern Sun Conference baseball doubleheader at home Wednesday afternoon to #3 Minnesota State 10-2 and 10-0 in games played at the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex in Wayne.  The visiting Mavericks have now won 20 consecutive games, improving to 37-4 and 27-3 in the NSIC while dropping Wayne State to 23-22 overall and 18-14 in league play.
The first game saw Minnesota State take control early with a five-run second inning to post a 10-2 win over the Wildcats.
WSC scored in the third inning when senior catcher Kevin Andersen singled and scored on a Quinn McGill sacrifice fly to make the score 5-1.
Minnesota State added three runs in the fifth and two more in the seventh for a 10-1 lead.  WSC closed out the scoring in the bottom of the seventh when Nate Ackerman reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Michael Herman RBI single to center field making the final score 10-2.
The Mavericks had 16 hits in the game to eight for WSC.  Andersen finished 2 for 3 with one run scored for the Wildcats.  Curtis Bussard singled, extending his hit streak to 16 games, while Ackerman, John Roberts, Albert Johnson and Tanner Simons also singled.
Senior lefthander John Roberts (1-2) suffered the pitching loss, charged with five runs on nine hits over four innings with four strikeouts and three walks.  Relievers Dalton Smith, Joe Greco and Ryan Zweck each worked one inning of relief for the Wildcats.
The second game saw Minnesota State freshman right hander Dalton Roach fire a complete game one-hit shutout as the Mavericks completed the sweep with a 10-0 win in seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when the Mavericks plated five runs on five hits and one Wildcat error for a 5-0 lead.  MSU added one run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to close out the 10-0 win.
Roach held WSC hitless through five innings of play until senior shortstop Zak Leighton doubled to left field with one out to ruin the no-hit bid.
Minnesota State had 14 hits in the win to just one by the Wildcats, Leighton's sixth inning double.
Senior Nick Ragan (1-4) was tagged with the pitching loss, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks.  Relievers Connor Keating, Joey Lenihan and Matt Faulkner finished out the game on the hill for the Wildcats.
