            #17 Rockhurst University held Wayne State College to a .138 attack percentage while recording 14 blocks to hand the 5^th-ranked Wildcats their first loss of the season Friday evening at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic in Kansas City, Missouri.  Scores of the match were 25-23, 26-24 and 25-14.  Both teams are now 5-1 on the season.
            The first set saw the host Hawks hit .302 with 15 kills and just two attack errors edge the Wildcats who had 19 kills with eight attack errors.
            WSC held the lead for most of the second set and had set point at 24-23, but Rockhurst reeled off three straight kills to rally for the 26-24 set win.
            The third set was all Rockhurst as the Hawks forced WSC into nine attack errors in rolling to the 25-14 set win.
            Rockhurst hit .265 for the match while holding the Wildcats to .138.  The Hawks had a 45-40 edge in kills and 6-47 advantage in digs while out-blocking WSC 14-8.
            Alyssa Frauendorfer paced WSC in hitting with 11 kills followed by Katie Hughes and Elizabeth Gebhardt with nine each.  Senior libero Courtney VanGroningen recorded 16 digs with Hughes adding 15 and setter Leisa McClintock was credited with 32 set assists.
            Wayne State will play two more matches Saturday at the Rockhurst Volleyball Classic, facing Pittsburg State of Kansas at noon and McKendree (Ill.) at 5 p.m.
