Both teams are now 1-1 on the season.
The host Bulldogs put together three impressive drives in the first quarter, consuming 72, 75 and 91 yards, to take a 22-0 lead.
Another story of the game in the first quarter was an undisclosed injury to WSC junior starting quarterback
Zach Osborn, who played the first two series of the game before leaving the game and not returning. He finished 3 of 7 for 21 yards passing on the night.
Minnesota Duluth added a field goal and touchdown in the second quarter, making the halftime score 32-0.
Redshirt freshman
Taylor Reedy (Norfolk HS) replaced Osborn at quarterback for the Wildcats. He moved the Wildcats on a pair of drives in the first half that ended in downs, one at the UMD 29 and another at the Bulldog 31.
Wayne State moved the ball again on their first drive in the second half, but ended on downs at the UMD 23 that covered 50 yards on 10 plays.
UMD added a touchdown and field goal in the third quarter for a 42-0 lead entering the final stanza.
The Bulldogs scored on their first series in the fourth quarter for a 48-0 lead.
Wayne State avoided a shutout midway through the fourth quarter when Reedy found senior running back
Ryan Ludlow on a six yard pass play with 6:22 remaining to culminate a nine play, 60-yard drive making the final score 48-7.
Minnesota Duluth gained 533 yards in the game to 300 for the Wildcats. UMD had 349 yards rushing and 184 passing while WSC produced 114 yards on the ground and 186 through the air.

Ryan Ludlow was the top rusher for the Wildcats with 66 yards on 11 carries followed by sophomore
Lane Yates with 38 on six attempts.
Redshirt freshman
Taylor Reedy completed 19 of 39 passes for 165 yards and one TD while Osborn was 3 for 7 for 21 yards in his two series before suffering an undisclosed injury.
The top WSC receiver was Nick Roth with five receptions for 62 yards followed by Ludlow with four catches for 26 yards and one TD while
Jonathan Parks added four grabs for 25 yards.
Senior linebacker
Nate Kroupa led Wayne State defensively with 10 tackles followed by senior safety
Jon Davis with eight stops.
Wayne State will be at home next weekend, hosting Northern State Saturday evening in a 6 p.m. contest at Bob Cunningham Field in Wayne.
