#22 Wayne State volleyball cruises to sweep over Minnesota Crookston

            #22 Wayne State College used a .369 hitting percentage to cruise to a sweep over Minnesota Crookston in Northern Sun Conference volleyball Saturday afternoon in Crookston, Minnesota.  Scores of the match were 25-15, 25-11 and 25-17.  The Wildcats are now 18-10 overall and 11-7 in conference play while the host Golden Eagles drop to 7-19 and 4-14 in the NSIC.
            WSC hit .464 in the first set to post a 25-15 set win.  Erin Gross and Jaci Brahmer each had four kills in the set while Megan Gebhardt and Haley Kauth each added a service ace.
            The Wildcats never trailed in the second set en route to a 25-11 win.  WSC raced out to an 11-3 lead early in the set and never looked back.  Freshman Alyssa Ballenger led Wayne State with four kills while WSC posted three blocks.
            The third and final set saw five ties and four lead changes before WSC claimed the sweep with a 25-17 win.  Seven different Wildcats recorded kills in the set.
            Wayne State finished the match with a .369 attack percentage, recording 43 kills with just five errors on 103 attacks while Minnesota Crookston finished with a .108 hitting percentage with 28 kills and 17 errors on 102 attempts. 
            The Golden Eagles held a 52-51 edge in digs over the 'Cats while WSC had a 7-2 advantage in blocks.  Wayne State had four service aces compared to three by Minnesota Crookston.
            Senior Erin Gross led the Wildcats offensively with 10 kills and a .409 attack percentage.  Redshirt freshman Jaci Brahmer and sophomore Katie Stephens added eight kills each. 
            Junior setter Megan Gebhardt recorded 30 assists and six digs.  Sophomore libero Haley Kauth had 14 digs while senior Bree Ackerman added 10 digs.  Four different Wildcats recorded blocks in the match.
            The Wildcats will close out the regular season at home next weekend hosting St. Cloud State Friday at 6 p.m. and #9 Minnesota Duluth Saturday in a 4 p.m. contest at Rice Auditorium.
