Jacks and Joseph lead Wildcats to 78-66 victory over USF

            Kendall Jacks and Trevin Joseph Jr. combined to score 43 points against Sioux Falls en route to a 78-66 Northern Sun Conference men's basketball victory at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls, S.D.  The Wildcats are now 9-6 and 4-3 in NSIC play while the Cougars drop to 8-4 and 4-3 in the Northern Sun. 
            Wayne State took the lead early before the Cougars used a 7-0 run to claim their first lead 13-12 with 12:47 remaining in the first half. 
Both teams traded baskets before USF was able to use another scoring run to push their lead to eight at the 5:15 mark.  WSC got as close as 32-28 after a Kendall Jacks layup before ending the half trailing 37-31. 
            The second half saw five ties and nine lead changes.  Wayne State took their first lead of the half four minutes in after junior Vance Janssen made a layup to make the score 42-41. 
            The teams battled back and forth before the Wildcats took their final lead of the game with 2:42 remaining and pulled away to earn a 78-66 road victory.
            WSC finished the game 31 of 60 from the field for 51.7 percent shooting.  The 'Cats were 6 of 13 from 3-point range and 10 of 14 at the charity stripe.
            Trevin Joseph Jr. led the Wildcat scoring attack with 22 points followed by Kendall Jacks with 21. 
            Trevon Evans scored 22 points to lead the Cougars.  Sioux Falls made 24 of 62 shots for 38.7 percent, going 3 of 18 behind the arc and 15 for 22 at the free throw line.
            Wayne State held a 37-33 edge in rebounds.  Senior Jordan Cornelius grabbed seven rebounds for WSC while Teathloach Pal had eight for USF.
            Jacks had five assists for the Wildcats while Vance Janssen had three steals. 
            WSC had 15 turnovers compared to just 10 by USF.
            Wayne State will play again Sunday afternoon in a 4 p.m. contest at Southwest Minnesota State.
