Wildcats hit century mark in win over Nebraska Christian College

            Wayne State shot 51.4 percent from the field and hit the century mark in topping Nebraska Christian College 101-52 Thursday evening in a non-conference men's basketball game played at Rice Auditorium.  The 'Cats improved to 3-1 with the win while the contest was an exhibition game for the 3-3 Sentinels.
            Nebraska Christian used red-hot shooting from behind the arc to stay with the Wildcats early.  The Sentinels canned 5 of their first 6 from the 3-point line and held an 18-16 lead at the 11:34 mark.
            But Wayne State went on a 16-0 run over the next 4:16 to take control of the game for a 32-18 lead.
            The Wildcats closed the first half with 57 percent shooting (20-35) and took a 53-31 lead at intermission.
            All 13 players saw considerable playing time and scored in the second half as the Wildcats outscored Nebraska Christian 48-21 in the second half to finish with the 101-52 win.
            Kendall Jacks and Trevin Joseph each scored 18 points for Wayne State followed by junior center Tony Bonner with 16 points.  Freshman forward Jordan Janssen recorded his first career double-double by producing 14 points and 16 rebounds.
            Wayne State made 38 of 74 shots from the field for 51.4 percent, going 6 of 25 behind the arc and 19 for 22 at the free throw line.
            TJ Rivera led Nebraska Christian College in scoring with 14 points while Chris Pendley scored 10.
            NCC shot 19 of 65 from the field for 29.2 percent.  The Sentinels were 8 of 25 behind the arc and 6 for 8 at the charity stripe.
            Wayne State held a sizeable 53-32 advantage in rebounding thanks to 16 caroms by Jordan Janssen
            The Wildcats forced 23 turnovers in the game and held a commanding 36-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
            Vance Janssen had eight of Wayne State's 20 assists in the game while Trevin Joseph accounted for four steals. 
            Jordan Janssen recorded four of Wayne State's 10 blocked shots.
            The next game for the Wildcats will be Saturday, November 24th hosting Mount Marty College in a 6 p.m. game at Rice Auditorium.
