Megan Phillips scored a first half goal to help Wayne State College gain a 1-1 double overtime tie in Northern Sun Conference women's soccer played Friday afternoon in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Wildcats are now 2-3-3 on the year and 2-2-1 in league play while the host Huskies are 3-2-3 and 2-1-2 in NSIC contests.
The 'Cats struck first in the 34
th minute when Phillips blasted a shot past St. Cloud State goalkeeper Zoe Welsh for a 1-0 Wildcat lead.
WSC ended the first half with one less shot than the host Huskies 5-4.
The Wildcats maintained their 1-0 lead until the final nine minutes when St. Cloud State tied the score on a goal by Nicole Friis with an assist from Mia Giorgi to send the contest into overtime tied at 1-1.
The host Huskies had the lone shot attempt of the first overtime and had two more shots in the second overtime while WSC had the lone corner kick of the overtime sessions coming in the second overtime to end in a 1-1 tie.
St. Cloud State finished with a 14-6 edge in shots and 6-4 in shots on goal. The host Huskies had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks on the Wildcats.
Phillips paced Wayne State with three shots, all on goal, including her first goal of the season.
Brooke Worrel also registered a shot on goal for the Wildcats.

Rachel Grisham was credited with five saves while allowing one goal in the contest.
The Wildcats will close out their NSIC road trip Sunday with a 12 p.m. contest at Minnesota Duluth.
