#23 Concordia Irvine 75 Wayne State 73
#23 Concordia Irvine rallied from a 39-28 halftime deficit and scored the go-ahead basket with 36 seconds remaining to edge Wayne State College 75-73 Saturday evening at the CCA Division II Men's Basketball Tip Off Classic in Orange, California. The Eagles improve to 2-0 on the year while the Wildcats drop to 0-2.
The Eagles held a 15-12 lead six minutes into the contest, then Wayne State went on a 13-0 run over a span of 4:57 to take a 25-15 lead following a
Nate Mohr 3-pointer with 8:59 left in the half.
Wayne State maintained the lead for the rest of the first half and closed with a 39-28 lead after a jumper from
Jordan Janssen with four seconds left before halftime.
The Wildcats maintained a double-digit lead for the first seven minutes of the second half until Concordia Irvine began their comeback.

Isiah Burd put Wayne State in front 53-41 with 13:38 to play.
Wayne State scored just two points over the next 5:45 as the Eagles went on a 21-2 scoring surge to erase a 12-point deficit and take a 62-55 lead over the Wildcats with 7:53 left.
The 'Cats came back and forged a 64-64 tie with 5:07 remaining after
Al'Tavius Jackson went 1-2 at the free throw line.
WSC regained the lead momentarily at 71-70 following a
Nick Ferrarini basket with 2:26 to go.
A three point play from Concordia Irvine's Andre Green gave the Eagles a 73-71 lead with 1:06 to play, but Janssen answered with a basket on the following possession to even the score at 73-73 with 51 seconds left.
Green scored the go-ahead basket for Concordia Irvine with 36 seconds to play for a 75-73 lead.
Ferrarini launched a 3-pointer with four seconds left and Concordia Irvine got the rebound to preserve the win.
Wayne State was 30 of 68 from the field for 44.1 percent, going 6 of 15 from 3-point range and 7 for 12 at the free throw line.
Ferrarini led Wayne State with a game-high 23 points, going 10 for 19 from the field.
Jordan Janssen added 15 points and 14 rebounds for his first double-double of the year to go with six assists.
Concordia Irvine made 25 of 59 shots for 42.4 percent, including 7 for 19 behind the arc. The Eagles were 18 of 26 at the charity stripe.
Jamel White scored 16 points for the Eagles followed by Jalen Sanders and Andre Green with 12 and 10 respectively.
WSC held a 44-35 advantage in rebounding thanks to 14 caroms from Janssen and seven by Ben Dentlinger.
Janssen had six of Wayne State's 11 assists in the game. WSC had four more turnovers than Concordia Irvine (15-11).
WSC will wrap up play Sunday at the CCA Division II Tip Off Classic facing Texas Permian Basin at 5:15 p.m. in Orange, California.
