'Cats close Texas trip with sweep over Eastern New Mexico

            The 24th-ranked Wayne State College volleyball closed their season-opening trip to Texas Saturday afternoon with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-18 victory over Eastern New Mexico at the Dallas Baptist Patriot Tournament.  The Wildcats move to 3-0 on the year while the Greyhounds fall to 0-4.
            Eastern New Mexico held the lead just one time in the entire match as the Wildcats used stellar hitting with a .358 attack percentage to control the match.
            The first set saw Kelsie Cada record seven kills on just nine swings in getting the 'Cats to a quick 25-11 first set win.  As a team, WSC hit .393 with 14 kills.
            WSC took a 10-4 lead early in the second set and rolled to a 25-16 victory, notching an impressive .452 attack percentage with 15 kills and just one attack error on 31 attempts.  Six different Wildcats had kills in the set led by Taya Beller with four.  Alaina Wolff recorded two service aces for the 'Cats.
            The third set was close early but the Wildcats completed the sweep with a 25-18 victory.  Jaz DeHaan and Cada each had three kills while Rachel Walker posted two service aces.
            Wayne State finished the match hitting .358 with 39 kills and just five errors on 95 attempts.  Cada paced the Wildcats with 13 kills, no errors and a .520 hitting percentage.  Beller added eight kills on 11 attacks and a .636 hitting percentage. 
            Setter Rachel Walker had 30 set assists to go with two service aces while Jessie Brandl had eight digs.
            Wayne State returns to action next weekend at the Colorado Premier Tournament in Denver where the Wildcats face #6 Lewis (Ill.) and #14 Western Washington on Friday afternoon.
