The Wayne State soccer team used a late first half goal to defeat Sioux Falls 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Wayne. The Wildcats moves to 2-5-4 on the year and a 2-2-3 record in the NSIC. The Cougars fall to 0-8-3 on the year with a 0-5-3 record in the NSIC.
The only goal came from Wildcat forward
Abby Sutton at the 43:59 minute of the first half. She was assisted by
Leah Bennett.
Wayne State would have 11 shots in the game with six on goal compared to the Cougars six shots with four on goal. The Cougars would end up with more corner kicks with three to the 'Cats one.
Sutton would lead the Wildcats in shots with four in the game with three of them being on goal. She was followed by
Morgan Rhodes and
Paige Pemberton with two shots. Wildcat goalkeeper
Hayden Wallace would have all four saves in the match.
The Wildcats will be on the road next weekend playing at the University of Mary Friday at 3:30 p.m. and Minot State Sunday at 12 p.m.
