2022 D2CCA All-America Volleyball Release

One day after being named AVCA First Team All-Americans, Wayne State sophomore middle hitters Taya Beller and Maggie Brahmer added one more post-season honors to their long list Thursday by being selected to the D2CCA All-America Volleyball Team voted on by Division II sports information directors.  Both players were named First Team All-American, marking the first D2CCA All-American for WSC volleyball since Emily Schroeder Jones in 2006 and 2007.  It also marks the first time that WSC has had two All-America First Team selections in the same season.
Beller, a 6-2 sophomore middle hitter from Lindsay, was the AVCA and D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year, NSIC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-NSIC and All-Central Region selection this season for the Wildcats to go with AVCA All-America First Team honors announced Wednesday.  She led Wayne State in hitting this season at 3.88 kills per set (3rd-NSIC) and is second in the league and eighth in NCAA Division II in hitting percentage (.398) while ranking fourth in the NSIC in points per set (4.46) and eighth in blocks (0.99).  Beller was a three-time NSIC Offensive Player of the Week selection this season and named AVCA/GameChanger Division II National Player of the Week September 27th.
Brahmer, a 6-0 sophomore middle hitter from Pierce, received AVCA All-America First Team honors Wednesday along with D2CCA and AVCA All-Central Region First Team honors for Wayne State this season.  A two-time First Team All-NSIC selection, Brahmer led the NSIC and ranks second in NCAA Division II with a .451 hitting percentage and is second in the NSIC and tied for 20th nationally in blocks per set (1.16), seventh in points per set (4.02) and ninth in kills per set (3.34).  Brahmer was named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season and Defensive Player of the Week once while also being voted Most Valuable Player of the Colorado Premier Challenge and was voted to the All-Central Region Tournament Team.
Wayne State College finished the 2022 season with a record of 30-3 and captured their first-ever NSIC regular season title with a 19-1 league mark.  It was just the fourth 30-win season in school history.  WSC is ranked second in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll and was the #1 seed and hosted the NCAA Central Region Tournament before seeing its season end with a 3-1 loss to #7 St. Cloud State in the region semi-finals.
