Northwood (Mich.) 5 Wayne State 2
Wayne State used three walks and an error to score two runs in the first inning, but Northwood (Mich.) held the Wildcats without a hit to record a 5-2 win at the National Training Center Spring Games Softball Tournament in Auburndale, Florida. The Timberwolves improve to 7-4 on the season while WSC falls to 2-14.
The 'Cats got off to a quick start, using three walks and a Northwood error to score two runs in the top of the first inning.
Northwood answered with a two-run bottom of the first to even the score and added two more runs in the third for a 4-2 advantage. The Timberwolves produced an insurance run in the fifth inning for the 5-2 win.
After Wayne State's quick start, the Wildcats had just one base runner the rest of the game – a two out walk in the third inning to
Paiton Tornberg. Northwood's Brynn Polega and Hailey Leister then held the WSC offense in check the rest of the way and retired the final 13 batters in order to post the 5-2 win.
Northwood recorded six hits in the contest, all singles.

Samantha Felt worked five innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits. Junior
Hadley Chvatal worked one inning of relief.
Wayne State resumes play in Florida on Wednesday with a pair of games, facing Seton Hill (Pa.) at 9 a.m. and Nyack College of New York at 1:30 p.m.
