Wayne State College is one of nine schools in NCAA Division II to earn a Make-A-Wish reveal as part of its fundraising and work by the Wildcat (SAAC) Student Athlete Advisory Committee in the Wayne and surrounding area during the 2022-23 school year.
NCAA Division II schools rained more than $160,000 in the 2022-23 academic year as part of its ongoing partnership with Make-A-Wish. Wayne State was one of nine schools that were selected and will get to experience wish reveals, which is the powerful moment when kids with critical illnesses find out their wishes will be coming true.
Other NCAA Division II institutions earning the Make-A-Wish reveal honor were Anderson (S.C.), Bloomsburg, Gannon, Kentucky Wesleyan, New Haven, Nova Southeastern, Southwest Baptist and Wingate (N.C).
Wayne State won the 2023 NSIC SAAC Cup, a traveling trophy that is awarded annually to the school that earns the most points by doing community service/engagement projects, attending meetings and raising money for Make-A-Wish and other worthy charities.
Wayne State's SAAC group has placed either first or second every year since the SAAC Cup has been awarded (2017-18), showing the involvement of Wildcat student-athletes with volunteering at local schools and working community service events along with raising monies for local charities that include Make-A-Wish.
Further information will be provided at a later date about Wayne State's Make-A-Wish reveal event.
