The Wayne State College volleyball team stayed #1 in the latest AVCA/TARAFLEX Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll released late Monday afternoon. It's the eighth straight week the Wildcats are ranked #1 in NCAA Division II. WSC received 43 first-place votes and 1,171 points in voting conducted by 47 various coaches in NCAA Division.
Wayne State won three matches last week, all in sweeps. The 'Cats blanked #6 Southwest Minnesota State Tuesday followed by road sweeps at Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State with Saturday's win at Bemidji clinching a second straight NSIC regular season title for the Wildcats. WSC, 26-1 and a perfect 17-0 in the NSIC, hosts #9 St. Cloud State Saturday at 1 p.m. to close out the regular season.
