Colin Lynam's two-run homer in the ninth inning made the game interesting, but Upper Iowa was able to hold on for a 3-2 win over the Wildcats in the series finale Saturday afternoon of a Northern Sun Conference baseball series played in Fayette, Iowa. WSC is now 17-17 and 11-9 in the league while UIU is 12-21 and 8-14 in NSIC games.
Both starting pitchers fired complete games in the contest –
Nathan Anderson for Wayne State and Keaton Parker of Upper Iowa.
The Peacocks struck for two runs in the first on four hits and got another run in the second on three hits for a 3-0 lead.

Nathan Anderson then allowed just one hit the rest of the way in firing a complete game in the loss.
WSC had just two hits entering the ninth inning – a second inning single by
Quinn McCafferty and a third inning double from
Nate Cunningham.
With WSC trailing 3-0 entering the ninth,
Cade Lynam led off the frame with a walk and one out later
Colin Lynam blasted a two-run homer over the right field wall to cut the Peacock lead to 3-2.
But UIU starter Keaton Parker was able to get the final two outs and hang on for the 3-2 win as the Peacock starter fanned 14 Wildcat batters in the contest.
Upper Iowa held a 9-3 edge in hits over WSC.
Colin Lynam had a two-run homer while Cunningham doubled and McCafferty singled for the other Wildcat hits.
Anderson (2-4) was tagged with the hard luck loss despite firing all eight innings. He gave up three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
Wayne State will be on the road Wednesday for a mid-week NSIC doubleheader at Winona State.
