The University of Sioux Falls defeated Wayne State 13-0 and 16-2 in the home finale for the Wildcat softball team Tuesday afternoon at the Pete Chapman Softball Complex in Wayne. WSC is now 12-36 and 7-18 in the NSIC while USF improves to 20-23 and 11-13 in league play.
An eight-run fifth inning by the Cougars in the opener gave Sioux Falls a 13-0 win over the Wildcats. USF took a 2-0 lead in the first with a pair of runs and added three in the third to go with eight in the fifth.
WSC had seven hits in the game, led by senior
Riley Holmberg going 2 for 3 with a double.
Hayley Murphy doubled while
Lauren Laudick,
Paiton Tornberg,
Natalie Arbizu and
Dylan Sweeney each singled.

Sophie Stuart working the final 1/3 inning.
The Cougars completed the sweep with a 16-2 win in the second game.
WSC scored one run in the third when Vidlak homered over the right center field wall. The 'Cats scored again in the fifth when
Lauren Laudick had an inside-the-park home run off the left field wall for the second Wildcat run.
Both Laudick and Vidlak were 2 for 3 with home runs to lead WSC at the plate. Holmberg, Madi Gomez and Sweeney each added singles.

Callie Carraher was tagged with the pitching loss in 1 2/3 innings of work.
Grace Lucka and
Hadley Chvatal both worked in relief for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats close out the regular season on the road this weekend visiting Minnesota Duluth Saturday and St. Cloud State Sunday.
