Wayne State Soccer Falls to Washburn 4-1

WSC fell to Washburn 4-1 Sunday afternoon in Topeka, Kansas. Wayne State moves to 2-2 on the season while Washburn moves to 3-1. 

Wayne State would strike first early in the first half scoring their first goal in the first five minutes of the game. Reagan Allen would score her first goal of the season. Washburn would answer back in the 25th minute of the first half. The two teams would take the 1-1 tie into the locker room. 

Allen would have the loan shot and goal for the Wildcats in the first half. Goalkeeper Hayden Wallace would have four saves for the Wildcats. The Ichabods would have seven shots in the half to the Wildcats one. 

Washburn would pull ahead early in the second half scoring their first goal in the 50th minute of the contest. WSC would have their first shot of the second half in the 61st minute. Annika Syvrud was blocked on her attempt. The Ichabods would score their second goal of the half and build their lead to 3-1 over the Wildcats in the 72nd minute. Just ten minutes later the Washburn would extend their lead to 4-1. Wildcats would have one more shot in the 85th minute by Syvrud, but was saved by the Ichabods. 

Wallace ended up with nine saves for the Wildcats in the loss. Syvrud had two shots to lead WSC. 

Wayne State will be in action when they travel to Sioux Falls to take on the Cougars next Thursday September 14th. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
