Efficient Wildcats take care of Cal State Dominguez Hills

            Wayne State College posted a .333 hitting percentage with just five errors as the #4 Wildcats posted a 25-21, 25-8, 25-8 sweep over Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday afternoon at the Golden Eagle Invitational Volleyball Tournament in Irvine, California.  WSC is now 3-0 while the Toros drop to 2-2.
            The first set was close with eight ties and two lead changes until the 'Cats broke away from a 16-16 tie to register a 25-21 set win.
            Junior Maggie Brahmer had four kills with Kelsie Cada and Taya Beller each notching three.
            The next two sets saw the Wildcats hold Cal State Dominguez Hills to negative hitting percentages as WSC forced 17 errors in the final two sets while recording eight blocks.
            The second set 25-8 win by the Wildcats saw Beller record four kills with Channatee Robles adding three as WSC hit .444 in the set without an error while defensively Wayne State forced 10 attack errors on the Toros including four blocks.
            13 different Wildcats saw action in the third set as WSC cruised to another 25-8 set win.  Kelsie Cada accounted for five kills followed by Beller with three.  Allie Petry recorded two service aces and WSC held the Toros to a -.033 attack percentage forcing seven errors.
            Wayne State hit .333 in the match with 37 kills and just five errors on 96 attacks while Cal State Dominguez Hills was held to a .047 percentage with 27 kills, 22 errors and 107 attacks.  The 'Cats held a 10-1 edge in blocks and had seven service aces to just two by the Toros.
            Beller had 10 kills to lead a balanced Wildcat attack at the net followed by Cada with nine.  Brahmer and Beller each had four blocks while libero Jordan McCormick had a team-high 14 digs.  Cada and Rachel Walker each had 10 while Walker handed out 25 set assists.
            Wayne State will close out play Saturday evening at the Golden Eagle Invite facing Azusa Pacific at 9 p.m. Central Time.
